Laser Cut Glass

by:Enkong     2024-03-19

Laser cutting plexiglass has obvious advantages such as high speed, high precision and accurate positioning. It can also be used in industries such as craft gifts, panel lens cases, model toys, advertising light boxes and signboards, packaging boxes and other industries. Its advantages can be divided into the following points:

①Good cutting effect: the incision does not need to be thrown by fire, it is very smooth and bright, and there is no sawtooth pattern, and the thickness of acrylic can be cut at a time of 20mm;

② Excellent performance of the whole machine: it can work continuously 24 hours a day without stopping, and the original guide rails from Taiwan are accurate and durable;

③The laser tube is of good quality and long service life: the best laser tube in the domestic machine, not only has stable performance, but also has a long service life (about 8~14 months), the power is 85W, and it can be used for half a year;

④ Fast cutting speed: For example, it is used to cut acrylic sheet with a thickness of 3mm.

Laser cutting has several important advantages over traditional mechanical cutting methods. First, it's a one-step, dry process. The edges are smooth and neat and do not require subsequent cleaning and sanding. Also, the laser-induced separation process produces high-strength, naturally tempered edges with no microscopic cracks. Using this method, unpredictable cracks and breakages are avoided, the rate of defective products is reduced, and the yield is increased.

Because cracks are traces drawn precisely along the laser beam, laser-induced separation can cut very precise curvilinear patterns. In fact, our experiments have also proved that no matter straight line or curve, laser cutting can continuously and accurately complete the set pattern, and the repeatability can reach +50μm. Therefore, the laser can perform precise cutting of curves and three-dimensional graphics.

Cutting thickness and cutting speed of laser cutting

There are three factors that limit the cutting speed: the thickness of the glass, the thermal expansion coefficient of the material, and the output power of the laser. In this test, we use a CO2 laser with 150W output power to cut glass with a thickness of 1.1mm, in a straight line, at a speed of 500mm/sec. For comparison, a hard metal wheel can cut the same glass of the same thickness at a speed of 1500mm/sec. However, even in speed-conscious applications, this difference will be more than made up for by the economical and quality advantages of laser cutting. At the same time, we all believe that further process optimization and cutting with higher output lasers could easily increase the processing speed by a factor of 2 to 3.
